Lab Development

CAD/CAM/CAE Lab

This lab was conceptualized and developed and is considered as one of the state of art laboratory of the institute. The development was planned in three phases by keeping employment opportunities to MPAE students in mind. Besides imparting training to our own students we have been able to organise short term training programs for the industry personnel and the faculty members of the sister institutes in this lab. The notable feature of this lab is that the entire networking has been done with the help of students. The lab manual along with 32 week training program on Ideas has been prepared for this lab.

Workshop

I took over the charge of workshop on 29/12/98. The notable work undertaken during my tenure is outlined as follows:

  • Three new shops viz. Welding, Foundry and Sheet metal were made operational

  • The facilties of machine tool shop were augmented by having two vertical milling machine and one shaping machine.

  • All the worktables for welding operations were made from scrap material, which was lying near workshop.

  • A coal furnace has been made in foundry shop and required tools were forged, as it is difficult and expensive to get these tools.

  • A most notable among these is repair of four welding transformers, which were lying in the junk. We are successfully doing arc welding with the help of these transformers.

  • Practical manuals were written for all the shops

Welding Lab

The contribution to the welding lab include:

  • Design and development of universal data acquisition system for the arc welding processes.

  • Development of on line metal transfer recording facility for the arc welding.

  • Design and development of on line recording facility for thermal cycles.

  • Design and development of XYZ table with feed back facility.

  • Design and development of brail printer.
